I am more than just man
I am earth's history,
I am earth's history,
it's body and it's soul
I am the cotton fields
and the plantations of the deep South
I am the water hoses
and the biting K-9s of the far North
I am blistered hands and tired feet
I am filled with the songs of freedom
and the souls of every black man before me
Heavy are the chains of injustice
a country built on the backs of a people
My tears are mixed with blood
salted and bitter are the taste of shattered souls
But I hold my head up high
because i realize my strength doesn't just come from
my back, or my arms or even my loins
It comes from my mind,
my heart,
my inner being,
my God
my God
For I am more than just man....
